Ryan’s Ultraman Collection

@ 4 years 6 months 4 weeks 1 day

These are part of Ryan’s Ultraman collection. He’s been an avid aficionado since he was 2 years old. He has about 50 Ultraman (exclude those tiny figurines he collected from twist balls, birthday cakes etc) and a couple of Bandai monsters, Ben 10 monsters, etc.

Recently we ordered more Bandai monsters and some limited edition Ultraman from Japan to add on his collection. That cost me a bomb but for the smile on his face, it’s all worth it. :) So far I have presented a few to him, especially when I have to go out for long hours whether it’s to run errands or work related matters, I still have like 10 in the box which I’m keeping for rainy days.

Monsters and a few sesat ower Rangers :P

On a separate note, nwadays when we are out, Ryan developed this habit of buying something before we head home. Hubs said I am the culprit behind that bad habit. Mmm.. I guess I have to admit, to a certain extent. But then again, check out what Daddy bought for Ryan when we were at Gleneagles last Saturday. Daddy’s excuse was ‘Ryan is sick…’ Yeah.. Yeah…. Culprit No2. LOL. *wink*

…. and DiDi get his hands on the new toy when Kor Kor is in dreamland (Ryan goes to bed between 7-8pm everyday) … LOL.

Swimming Lesson

@ 4 years 6 months 2 weeks 2 days

I brought Ryan to SLGCC with the intention to let him have a trial at the swimming lesson. My boy was all geared and was truly excited. We waited for 10 minutes then another 10 minutes and still no sign of any coaches around , which was strange, I decided to give one of the coaches a call. What a blunder. It was the 5th week and there was no swimming lessons on the 5th week. My boy was so disappointed. So I changed him into his swimming attire and allowed him to play in the pool for half hour. He refused to come out, until I had to bribe him we are going to check out the bowling alley.

Waiting and more waiting

Trick and Treat

@ 4 years 6 months 2 weeks 1 day

Hubs was away for 3 days to Manila for a business trip. He came home on the Thursday but since he has another business meeting on Friday, we literally only have Saturday of family bonding before he goes off on Sunday to Beijing for another business trip. So when we were invited to attend a colleague’s surprise birthday party the wifey had planned, we literally dragged ourselves out of the house. It proved to be a decision wise made. When we got to his colleague’s neighborhood, we saw many children all dressed in Halloween costume walking from house to house for Trick and Treat. Ryan had never been exposed to such experience. So it was a good opportunity for him to get involved.

Kids hiding to give birthday boy a surprise

We, obviously did not dress up for the occasion. Nevertheless, it never dampens the little one’s mood. Ryan joined the crowd and was brought along by Z’s helper together with a few other kids to collect treats from house to house. He was a little shy at first but soon warmed up especially when his bag started loading up with more and more candies.

So much effort put on the Halloween Trick and Treat deco. Kids had to perform the limbo walk trick here.

Ryan’s maiden bump

@ 4 years 6 months 2 weeks

It was about 10am when I received a call from Ryan’s class teacher, Debbie. To receive a call from his teacher during school hours when Ryan was in school is heart cruching. The moment I picked up the phone, she asked ‘Is it convenient to talk?’. I quickly said yes and blurted my next question to find out if Ryan was sick. Teacher calmly said no.. he’s not sick. OK, I feel more relaxed.

I must say his teacher is a wonderful teacher. She’s never panicked in any situation, she’s never lose her patient in any of the students under her care, she’s always calm and well mannered in front of everyone. Well, at least in front of me. From my conversation with her all along, she potray herself as a loving, responsible and always positive teacher. I guess all these has to do with the Sokka Gakkai teaching.

Anyway… back to her call.

She broke the news Ryan had fallen while ‘playing’ with two other kids (B and KJ). They were playing (which I later found out from Ryan’s side story, they were actually holding hands walking towards the library) and out of blue KJ had accidentally shoved both B and Ryan to the floor. While B only had a small scratch on his knees, my poor Ryan had ended with a big bump on the forehead. Teacher Debbie assured me things are under control and she called because she wanted to pre empt us of the incident. (She actually called all three mothers). I asked if Ryan did cry to which she replied yes but it was only for a short while. To lighten the mood, she said Ryan even asked her repeatedly why she kept applying medicine as Ryan claimed he is no longer in pain.  Teacher praised Ryan for his braveness, for being strong and tough when face with such incident. My heart sank when I heard that. I was puzzled. My feelings were mixed. I wanted to go and bring him home but Debbie told me Ryan had insisted to stay in school.

When I reached the school to pick Ryan at 12noon, my heart sank to my stomach when I saw his bump. It was bad, so bad. He must be in real pain. But my tough cookie was all smiles and proudly announced to me ‘Mommy, I fell and I didn’t cry’. For a moment, I thought I was choking trying to keep myself from tearing, the little moment I said to myself, aahh… my little ‘siu yeh zhai’ has grown up. *smile*

Ouch! Ouch!

Ultraman Mini Exhibition

@ 4 years 6 months 4 days

Ryan fell ill on the 14th Oct (Thursday) with a fever. His fever was very high that night, 39.xC and when his temp did not subside after sponging him and Neurofen, I had no choice but to administer suppository at around 10pm. He cried and said it was painful. My poor boy. Luckily at this age, he’s more understanding and he knows it’s something we had to do to make him feel better. I consoled him saying if he gets better, I’ll bring him to The Mines for Ultraman mini exhibition.

On Friday, his fever kinda went away after another dose of Neurofen.  He kept checking on the time and asked me to get ready. He was really looking forward to the session. He’s been a fan since he was 2. So I brought him to The Mines as promised to see his superhero.

It was a 3 day event. Friday was media and VIP launch. No, we were not the VIP so that was as close as we could get to the stage. The boy in pic was a TV presenter. Lucky him. We could join the meet and greet session on Sat/Sun for some pictures but I decided not to tell Ryan about it anticipating the Q will be mad

Checking out the goodies to add to his gigantic collection

I had to tell him all the Monsters’ name on each of the poster. He could name and remember all the Ultraman in and out of his collection
