Don’t be a Spoilt Brat

@ 7 months 4 weeks

Last night I came home to find Ryan with more bruises on his forehead. Since the first virgin bruise came about few weeks back, there were many followers since. And to exasperate the look, poor cutie also has a mozzie bite on his forehead – big one! Arrgh.. So you can imagine, bruises (new and old) and mozzie bite. That makes me ponder upon how he behaves during the day at nanny’s and subsequent questions on nanny’s ability to care for this hyper devil is constantly printing in my head. Don’t get me wrong but after last week’s news broke about a 7 month old baby in coma after a fall due to nanny’s carelessness, how not to start ‘wu si luen siong’ leh…

See, nanny is a very nice lady, very patient with babies, soft spoken, bla bla bla.. I can go on and on and on…. And most importantly her house is super clean okayyyy… I seriously wonder if she has some OCD (okay..okay.. not that extreme) but seriously she has this tendency to make me take back all the stuff that she doesn’t find useful for Ryan – including changing mat, rubber mat, play pen, clothes (too many there) and even an extra bolster (I gave her two, she returned one.. funny leh). Anyway, this post is not about nanny la.. overall, thumbs up on her. All these months under her well care, Ryan is still ‘fei fei pak pak’, still as hyper as usual. So, I ‘fong sum’. Happy happy.

Okie Okie.. back here. When I came home yesterday evening, mom in law told me that nanny (call her auntie la) told her that Ryan is a baby bully (got such term??). Anyway, what happened was, while playing happily with another baby (2 years plus) also under auntie’s care, suddenly Ryan became so excited (not sure why but auntie suspect the lil monster saw her walking away to the living room) that he started pulling that poor baby’s hair for support and maneuvered his way up to standing position. My god!!! Sooo cruel (although inside my heart I find that a little amusing. Heheheh..naughty mummy). Anyways, that is not exactly my point. After the incident, suddenly it crossed my mine, hey.. if I don’t start teaching Ryan to behave and respect, will he become a spoilt brat in the family later? Or is he one already?? Hmm.. since I’m on leave today, I think I should start trawling the net see if I could explore any secrets to a well behaved baby.

Side track a bit, the other day I was telling a friend of mine that Ryan crawls in a funny way. I find it so hard to describe to her in writing (over msn). So, this morning I managed to capture this. Chew lee.. this is for you. LOL!!

Ps: Ryan will usually crawl with his right leg up. Cute leh. Why? Hmm.. I think he probably figured with that method he could save time by moving further and faster to wherever ‘usually prohibited’ place he’s eyeing before this mummy catch him in her arms.

Peek – A – Boo

@ 7 months 3 weeks 5 days

I am always amazed by the astonishing amount of things a baby can learn during their tender years – they are such an explorer.

Ryan likes to bang things on a hard ground- be it table, floor, chair even his own thigh. He will grab things (especially hard objects, he doesn’t like soft toys) and start banging so he could hear the reflex sound out of it; and on occasions when his tiny hands can’t reach for a ‘victim’, he’ll use his bare hand instead to create the same sound effect. Bare hand??!!! Ouucchh!!!

Since Ryan’s younger days (hahaha.. not as if he’s any older now. LOL), we have started the peek-a-boo game with him. Most of the time then he would just stare blank at our faces not knowing what reaction to give this silly mummy and daddy. This has been on-going for a while until about 2-3 months back he started to acknowledge the fun out of it. He will giggle and burst into a wide smile and loud laugh when we play the hypothesis game with our little cutie. Then we realized… hey… our cutie has grown, no more blur face and is now more interactive leh.

We’re never bored when we indulge in peek-a-boo with Ryan. Babies are all full of surprises; no exception with our lil cutie. That is exactly what happened the other day..

We were so immersed with the game, hiding our faces behind our comforter and suddenly we realized hey… Ryan is doing exactly the same. He held up the comforter, hide his face behind and terra… unveiled to us his big smiley face. I never paid attention when he learnt that and that’s definitely one of the sweet memories I will remember for life.

Note to Ryan: You’re mummy and daddy’s angel. We’re so proud of you.. Lots of Luv.. Muak~Muak..

Adieu City, Hello Wish

@ 7 months 3 weeks 4 days

Yeah.. finally bid farewell to my City last Saturday. Wasn’t really a hard separation (Hahaha…. explained as if it’s some break up story). Anyway, anyway.. there goes .. Adieu City.

As soon as we dropped off the car at SS19, we went straight home, freshened up, left Ryan with PIL and very “kan cheong” zoom-zoomed straight to UMW in Sri Petaling. Before we reached, I actually called the SA (his name is Alvin – very nice guy). I said to Alvin – “Alvin.. I don’t want to see any finger prints or scratches on the car ya. He assured me “No prob la Yvonne, even the fly can slip from the car – all smooth and silky”. Yeah yeah.. sales talk. We’ll see.

When we reached, the car was nicely parked outside the showroom. Hmm.. from a distant, not bad not bad.. sparkling shine.. but then… after a quick close-up.. arrghhhhhh…oucccchhh!!!! Guess what?? Many tiny little finger prints literally screaming at me. They were all over the rear windows. Arrgghh… Don’t get me wrong leh. I am usually quite nice but because it was a ‘Open Day’ at UMW last weekend, there were whole lot of people okayyy – I have no choice but to assert my buyer’s rights. Soo.. what else. Summoned Alvin la.. Our friend was busy signing order with another client. Do not want to make a scene I gave face.. afterall just finger prints ma (I consoled myself). With the extra minutes before Alvin came, I methodically checked through in and out, out and in, side to side, left right, up down… okie.. all good except finger prints and the number plate (mine don’t have chrome lining!!!!).

Poor guy Alvin came and suggested we go for a drink so he could give the car another round of a handsome make over. After 20 minutes, we came back. Oki la.. this time all good. But I am still not happy with the number plate at which he agreed to help me change on Monday when I send my car for tinting.

Anyways, all good. Happily drove home with new car. Yoohoooooo… !!!!

(Oh, Hubs actually drove..not mummy. Why?? I think one who knows me well can easily guessed. Hehehee…).

Well, a quick review of my first impression of the car here:

* Power – Of course more ‘powderful’ than City. 2L vs 1.5L. But I find the car jerks a little when I accelerate.

* Space – On paper, Wish is not that much longer than City. However it feels longer due to the extra row of seats. Nonetheless, the downside of that is of course not having a huge boot space that I used to take advantage of during my City days – now it’s just literally enough space for Ryan’s stroller only. Sigh.. Oh, but but to give credit to Wish, it is by far the most spacious MPV in terms of leg room compared with Mazda 5 and Honda Stream (the other two models we also considered).

* Air Con – Much has been said that the flow of air-con can’t reach the rear row. My personal experience confirmed that is not entirely true. With the new air con booster switch it actually feels quite cooling at the back.

* Design – Aiyah.. this one. Thumbs up to Wish. No contest. (Oh, I actually prefer Mazda’s design. slurp, slurp..).

* Fuel Consumption – Hmm.. my first full tank was RM105. We’ll see how it performs in about a week’s time.

Hmm.. generally the cars feels good to handle and I think Ryan is more happy in a more roomy car. At least can play peek-a-boo with MaMa during our weekend rides.

Hehehe.. oki.. found one pic on my phone. “Teng Chue Sin” la… Check out

More pics to come when I upload it later… it’s in my other camera. Stay tuned.

Note to Ryan: Hmm.. wonder by the time you read this post, mummy is still driving the car. Heeheee.. Kidding kidding. Daddy literally banned me from changing car in the next many many years.

Hands Free Stunt

@ 7 months 3 weeks 1 day

Ryan is extremely hyper these days. Last Night Mr. Lim and I have to attend his CFA award ceremony so Ryan would have to spend the evening playing with YehYeh and MaMa until we both got home around 10pm ish. Funny thing was right after we stepped foot in our room, YehYeh said “Tak Boleh Tahan liow.. YehYeh Tak Boleh Tahan”. Then MaMa supplement by saying “Beh Teng” – it means “non-stop” in Hokkien. Hahahaha….only one evening wor YehYeh MaMa, already tak boleh tahan???

Lately I realized Ryan develops a habit of cruising. Cruising in the sense that he will prop up from sitting position, hold on to whatever he could hang on for his dear life and start cruising from one side to another. And.. am really not sure if it’s because of his weight (about 9kg+ now I think) or what not, most often he will fall down and the whole process would starts all over again until he is tired and sit down playing with his toys within reach. Oh.. poor baby.

Cruising aside, Ryan never failed to amaze us once in a while. For instant, last night he showed us a little stunt after we put him on his playpen. Check out what little stunt the little monster paraded to us (middle pic)…

Note to Ryan: Ryan, you’re working your way to independence. Soon enough, you’ll be able to walk and run. Mummy is gonna miss all your amazing stunts. You never failed to surprise us… Luv you Ryan.

——————————————————————

Oki oki.. I must blog about this.. or rather a space for me to remember this moment. Ryan is always a risible baby. I have heard some of my friends who said their baby would cry when they see their mummy leaves. Seriously I don’t know how’s the feeling like. You know, seeing your baby cry because the cutie misses you etc etc? A bit cruel but I would think that gives a sense of ‘achievement’ leh. You care for your baby and they shed tears when you say bye-bye. Hmmm…. cruel mummy. Heehee..

Oh, wanna find out Ryan’s usual reaction when mummy say bye-bye to him. The following pics were taken this morning? Check it out…

From top left: clockwise
Pic 1: Eh.. Ryan pointing at mummy. Is that a sign he gonna cry or show some sadness when mummy leaves?
Pic 2: Err..err.. nope.. no sign of crying.. he actually smiles
Pic 3: Yeah.. confirmed. Ryan is smiling when mummy waves bye bye
Pic 4: Aiseh… still smiling when mummy gets into car. (sob..sob)

Note to Ryan: Ryan, don’t you miss mummy?
