Busy Busy Busy

@ 43 months 2 weeks 2 days
BB2 @ (31 weeks 4 days)

Woohoo.. time flies. We have been in KL (for good) for slightly more than a month (we flew in on 28th Oct after spending 2 nights at Concorde Hotel in Singapore). Everything seem to have settled down into routine. We have completed all the unpacking and hubs too, got himself back into working life in KL (started his new job on the 2nd Nov). The month of Oct was literally jam packed with activities; the uprooting, packing and revisiting places (Night Safari, East Coast Park, Science Centre, Snow City, Pasir Ris Kids Kampong for Longkang Fishing, Sentosa – Insect Kingdom and Butterfly Park etc) that Ryan likes took up all our time.

Hubs’s last day of work was 15th Oct. The mad rush and limited time meant we did not get any holiday abroad which we had hoped for. :(

Back in KL. The first week was tough as neither hubs or me have gotten our ‘wheels’. FIL was hubs’ chauffeur for a week and after I got my car (11th Nov), I took over the chauffeuring task. That lasted another few days. Hubs collected his gem on 14th Nov. Driving in KL drained my brain juice. There’s a huge difference between driving in Singapore and in KL. Not to mention the traffic congestion around the clock. Phew.

Meanwhile, Ryan is adapting very well. Occassionally he tells us he misses his friends and teachers in Singapore but that’s about it. Kids are definitely more adaptable. I think he is enjoying the bigger space, the extra attention showered on him, and the freedom of not having to go to school and play all day at home.

We have registered Ryan with Seri Soka Kindergarten few months ago after knowing we would be back for good. We visited the school after our return for the so called assessment which the school required before the child is officially accepted into the school. Ryan was not very cooperative. The moment we told him we were visiting his ‘future’ school, he gave us the cold shoulder. He told us he doesn’t like KL school (he doesn’t even know how the school looks like then), he said he doesn’t like his KL friends, eventhough he has no indication who are they). At the school, we spent some time speaking with the person in charge while Ryan enjoyed his dose of playground. We were then brought around the school. Ryan was evidently less resistable and more open upon seeing the art work displayed outside the school’s classrooms. It’s not going to be an easy transition I know. I  just hope things would work out better than my expectation if we really do decide to go with this school. Till then, we will continue our search for an alternative; not because Seri Soka is not good. It just that we are exploring the private and international Primary schools around the area and it only make sense to send Ryan to the kindy offered by the school. Search in progress…..

It’s the school holiday here and it’ll be at least another month before he starts school. BB2 will be arriving soon and I really want to take the opportunity to spend more time with Ryan so I did not sign him up any holiday programmes. I DIY a stack of new phonic cards for Ryan. He has completed the 3 letter words ending ‘an, ap, at, am’. He progressed very well and we’ll be moving on to ‘as, ag, ax, ab’ and will follow up with the consonants.

He’s now into Wii and is addicted to playing games on hubs’ iphone. Months back, we thought of buying him a PSP but looking at the level of his addiction, we brushed the thought aside.

As for me.. I’m doing well. Visited my ob-gyn on the 21st Oct for my 2 weeks overdue 7th month checkup. It was an uneventful visit. BB2 was at 30 weeks by date however he recorded a gestational size of 32 weeks + 4 days and 1.9kg with head down position. I stepped on the scale and it showed 61.5kg. Another 3.5kg gain in 6 weeks. No wonder my tummy grew so much bigger in the last few weeks. I really do look like a walking whale now.

Side track. We went for On Hong Concert on 7th Nov (hubs’ birthday) at Genting Arena of Stars. It wasn’t a fantastic concert (duration was short and they really don’t have that many songs that I like) but they did sing some good 90s songs that I appreciated. So it was not bad. Not sure about hubs *evil* but at least I was entertained. That was pretty much how we celebrated his birthday.

In the background, the 20ft lorry the mover had arranged to transport our furnitures from SG – KL. We accumulated more than 40 boxes of ‘goods’ in our 2 years plus in SG.

Adios…..

What’s for lunch?

What are you having for lunch? I’m having this… slurpss. Got the “sotong” to prepare this for me (refer receipe book). I know.. I can buy a pack of this from the shop easily but saja la.. since she’s so free at home. :D

Christmas Party

I bought a stack of Christmas cards over the weekend. Since Loida celebrates Christmas I gave her a few cards so she could pen down a few notes to her parents, her bf (yes, she told me she has a bf of 5 years in Philippines) or maybe friends back home.

Yesterday morning she asked me if she could use the phone to call her friend ((who also works as a helper) in Singapore as she wants to send her a greeting. WTF! Call her friend? Send her friend a card? OK la.. Maybe the friend is her best buddy those days and knowing I’m such a nice employer so how could I say no rite…

In the evening, she told me she made the call(s). Yes.. with an S. She tried calling her friend but no answer. So she called another friend who works in Lucky Plaza. She has the cheek to tell me this Lucky Plaza friend asked her to go for a Christmas Party on the 23rd. I gave her the ‘look’ without uttering a word. She continued that she already told her ‘friend’ she can’t go… cos she’s not allowed to go out during her first 6 months. Ngek ngek ngek… sobby story hor. and you know how does it feels when a sentence has ‘tulang’, ‘bone’ in that manner???; and that if you read between those lines you’ll get the hidden message??

Anyway, she must have been very disappointed as I totally ignored her thereafter and continued to play with Ryan. Kakakaka… I also know how to ‘act’. She was so dem lucky. If she actually asked for permission to go, I’ll ban her from making any calls for the next many months. She’s only been here 2 months. In her 1st month, she asked for a handphone. This month, she ngek about Xmas party. I wonder, what’s next.

I should really get the phone company to itemised the phone calls…. Don’t want her to start calling her ‘friends’ when I’m napping. I don’t want to jump to conclusion or make any accusation that she made any calls behind my back but she’s only been here 2 months. It’s only fair I be more cautious.

Got maid susah, no maid also susah…………

About my maid…

Muahahahahaa… my maid never failed to amuse me. Maybe she feels I’m too bored at home and in dire need of some entertainment.

I asked her to go to the coffeeshop again to buy me lunch. In view of her blunder the last time, I decided to write down the instructions on paper after briefing her what I want. She threw away the paper already so I can’t take a pic of it. But the message was as clear as below:

1) Carrot Cake – less chili – small – approximately $2 (cos I do not know the price)

OR

2) Chicken rice – small – @2.50

Pretty straight forward. But like I said she never failed to entertain me until the extent I find her naively blur and quite funny. :P

I only gave her $10 and she came back with ‘yat chau yee lang’ (bags of food) I thought nothing about it until when I walked to the dining table where the food was served, I saw two servings of lunch?? A closer look I saw – a packet of carrot cake AND chicken rice. Aiyyoooo.. my maid. Aiyoyo… Dem joker la!

** To give her some credits, besides the occassional blunder, she can do her work pretty well (a bit slow but that’s fine. I don’t have a bus to catch), and importantly she adores Ryan and Ryan likes her too so I guess she cannot be too horrible for a person who loves kids.

S$5 Chicken Rice

I’m really speechless about my maid. I asked her to go buy two packs of chicken rice from a nearby kopitiam and gave her $10. Period. Pretty straight forward instruction right?

After a while she came back and I opened up my chicken rice and saw wow.. so much (rice and chicken meat). Can feed an elephant (ok.. exaggerated but it’s really a lot). I was a little surprised but never thought much about it and continued eating. Maybe uncle seller miang, likes my maid so much and gave more chicken?? Don’t care la. Eat first. :P

Later I asked my maid, how much is the chicken rice (there are two serving, small $2.50, big $3.00). The last time I asked her to buy, I instructed her to buy two small packs @ 2.50 each. So this time round I thought maybe she forgot and bought the $3 per pack instead.

Then to my dismay, my horror, my surprise, my curiousity, my my my holy sh-it… she said it’s $5 per pack. OMG!!!!! I said how come so expensive. I knew prices soared up etc but 100% hike on chicken rice is simply not possible. Hak sei yan meh???

I repeated after her “$5 per pack???” I looked at her (trying to control my cool for having such a blur sotong maid) and kept mum. Next, she has the cheek to said these to me “Ooo.. yea… last time $2.50. Sorry mom, I told him $5″. Now I’m curious. There were way too much chicken for a $2.50 price tag but may be too little for $5 too. (Putting on CSI cap) Maybe she telan my $5 by sacrificing some of her chickens and gave the meat to me? I really don’t know and I don’t want to be judgemental. All these while, she has been pretty honest and trustworthy.

See, I’m so geram (furious) not because of the money. Afterall, it’s just a small amount. But I want the truth. I can tolerate having a blur sotong maid, but I will not accept a dishonest person in the house. I’m about to take my nap now before I grill her further later. I’m good at grilling for answers… after 16 years of training on my hubs. Kakakakaaka….
