It never crossed my mind to prop a bottle to Ryan to test his fine motor skills in holding his own bottle until I saw him doing it at auntie’s place. Auntie then confirmed it has been a while already. Sigh.. this mummy still blur-blur. It was after then I recalled Ryan actually started holding his own bottle when he was barely 2 months old.. well not exactly holding though cos his hands were not strong enough then so he was more like touching with both his hands and ever since frankly I kinda assumed it’ll happen naturally ‘one day’ rather any initiation from me.. But come to think of it, kinda silly la. If I don’t prop it, how would I know that ‘one day’ has already arrived? Another sign my baby has grown…
After the discovery at auntie’s place, nowadays I will let Ryan hold his own bottle be it for milk or water. Often he would just let go and kinda still expecting mummy’s extra hand.. not anymore baby. You have to learn to do it without mummy’s help.. but at times he would surprise us with a show of his little stunt by holding the bottle single handedly.
Ps: Ryan still doesn’t know how to drink from the weaning cup. Must let him practise more…
