One of my favourite masks

I picked up a tub of Black Sugar Mask from Skin Food a few weeks ago after trying out their sample pack.

Verdict: No regrets!

Skin Food has a wide range of face masks. I’ve tried their Rice Mask as well as their Black Sesame Seed Hot Mask but this Black Sugar Mask really beat the rest hands down. It even smells pretty pleasant and importantly it does not break out on me. Phew! (I actually broke out using Bare Minerals. Sigh. I really like its coverage. I will write about that the next time). So this, rest assured, it’s tried and tested by someone with highly sensitive skin. 

The texture of sugar granules in the mask is medium to coarse. Some may find this product a bit too harsh on their delicate skin but for me, i kinda like it the way it is and it turns out to be the selling point for me as it really gives me a very satisfying scrub each time I use it. The after feel is so good my face does look and feel super clean after each session.  It’s like those years of accumulated dead skin and blackheads are magically sloughed off instantly.

I don’t slap this on my face everyday. The beauty regime bible says daily exfoliation will cause skin to break out so attempt at your own cost.

I personally only use this 1-2 times a week as this isn’t the only mask I use. I normally alternate between this and my other masks. My face does feel and looked visibly a tad smoother after each exfoliation and yet it’s not overly tight. So it gives the ‘just right’ feel.

If you’re like me, always struggling to find time for your regular facial at the beauty centre, this is definitely worth a go (this is not a paid post).

Black SugarMask retails at RM44 per 100g tub at Skin Food outlets nationwide. Really affordable. I’ve introduced this to a few of my friends and they are all loving it. One thing to take note though. Due to the texture of the granules, do make sure you use the mask on a slightly damp face so the beads would glide nicely as you massage onto your pretty face. 

How I normally use it in 5 simple steps:

i) Cleanse – ii) Damp face and gently massage mask onto my face – iii) Leave it on while I take my shower – iv) Rinse off after about 10 minutes – v) Moisturise.

Voila.. That’s to a revitalized, unclogged, smoother and clearer face. . I’ll give it a 4 out of 5.  Definitely a keeper.
