4th Month Check Up

@ 18 weeks

Woohoo.. BB2 turn exactly 18 weeks today. In a blink of eyes, I’m already 4.5 months pregnant. I still remember how I felt time crawls during my 1st trimester especially during the period when I was badly affected by horrible torturous morning sickness for about two weeks; likely due to the progesterone pills (Dhupaston) I was taking. The morning sickness, vomitting in particular, was so dire that I made no qualms about my wish to stay in the toilet all day, saving me the effort walking in and out of toilet. Super tiring and exhausting. :(

As if the nausea and vomitting spells were not bad enough, I also suffered from constant burping. By constant I really do mean as frequent as in the count of burping every few minutes. That lasted for quite many weeks and I was prescribed Antacid to relieve gas in my stomach. That didn’t quited helped. Ginger tea did very little to ease my discomfort either. Poor me.. As dreadful as it was, thankfully 2 weeks or so before my 1st trimester ended, all the morning sickness symptoms I was suffering (burping, vomitting, loss of appetite, nausea, funny awful taste after certain food) were gone. I lost about 4kg as a result, short of 3kg when I was carrying Ryan.

I went for my 4th month check up on 15 August. All went well. I managed to gain a little, 0.7kg since the last check up a month ago.

Separately, BB2 also showed good progress, good size development. That despite my initial fears of the effect on BB2 due to my drastic weight loss. It turns out, BB2 managed to absorb the best from mommy and has been consistently showing a slightly bigger than average in size over the last few check ups. On week 16th, scan showed BB2 was 10 days bigger than the average. *smile*

My tummy is still considerably small and I am still wearing my loose fitting normal clothes. Nonetheless, if the same pattern follows suit, the big chunk of my weight gain will come around 7th month. I hope I won’t gain as much as I did when I was carrying Ryan though (15 kg then!). Hopefully this time round I could maintain weight around 60kg? 10kg gain. Possible? Mmm…..

About a week ago I started having baby flutters too. Ryan was a very active baby back in his womb days. I still remember how I could easily feel and see his frequent jerks and kicks especially in my last trimester. The memories of watching my tummy moves in waves like pattern seemed so vividly recent. That makes me wonder if BB2 will follow the brother’s foot step and become yet another super active baby.

  1. Keep the weight gain around 12kg, under 10kg is a bit too low.

If you are planning to bf later, you will lose all the fat, don’t worry.

  2. Good progress :)

Cannot imagine you gain 15kg on Ryan time but can slim down to Leng Leng mommy also … me only gain, no reduce sob sob*

Glad that all the morning sickness been kicked away :)

  3. I put on 4kg in 1 month when I was in KL!!!! See lar… all those Hokkien Mee and Ban Mee are the killer!

Don’t think I can ever maintain my weight like what I did when I had Darrius… I am almost at the weight where I gave birth to Darrius now!
